Breathalyzer test of Vegreville drunk driver over 3 times legal limit


A Vegreville man is facing impaired and dangerous driving charges after he was caught traveling in the westbound lanes while heading east on Highway 16 near Vegreville last week.

Sgt. Jeremie Landry of the RCMP says on Thursday, a number of witnesses reported near head-on collisions with the man’s vehicle.

After receiving the 9-1-1 calls, RCMP headed out to Highway 16 to track down the Vegreville drunk driver.   After being pulled over, the man was arrested at the scene for driving while impaired.

“The male driver provided breath samples and blew over 3 times the legal limit”, says Landry.

Vegreville RCMP have charged the driver with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, impaired operation of a motor vehicle, driving while over .08 and having alcohol within reach of the driver.

“The RCMP are thankful for the concerned motorists who contacted 911 and RCMP believe a collision that could have had serious consequences was prevented in this case”, says Landry.
