Nov 19, 2014 - 358 TRAFFIC FATALITIES IN ALBERTA IN 2013

The provincial government is reflecting on the number of fatal crashes in Alberta last year, saying even one fatality on our roads is too many.

In 2013, there were 358 traffic-related fatalities across the province and 18,650 with injuries.

“We all need to do better by taking personal responsibility behind the wheel to ensure everyone gets home safe and sound at the end of each day,” said Minister of Transportation Wayne Drysdale in a news release.

He made the comments in commemoration of the National Day of Remembrance for Road Crash Victims.

The event was established in 1993 by a British charity called RoadPeace, and is now overseen by the World Health Organization.

Events will be held nationwide to mark the day.

In Alberta, activities will occur in a number of communities throughout the week.
