Jun 18, 2012 - WOMAN PLEADS GUILTY IN TWO FATAL COUNTS OF IMPAIRED DRIVING - (Tyson & Colton case)


A Lacombe woman charged in the fatal Hwy 11A collision that killed two youths on March 31 pleaded guilty in Red Deer provincial court on June 15, 2012 to two counts of impaired driving causing death.

April Gail Beauclair, 29, will be sentenced on Aug. 31.

Red Deer teenager Tyson Vanderzwaag was crushed while he and some friends were pushing a broken-down car off the road when it was struck from behind.

Vanderzwaag, 17, later died in hospital.

Colton Keeler, 19, was killed at the scene.

They were among five people heading east on Hwy 11A at about 3:30 when their car broke down near Range Road 281, about three kilometres west of Red Deer city limits.

Other charges against Beauclair were dropped.
