Mar 17, 2015 - NINE LONG YEARS [Brent Neville]

Nine long years have passed since losing our precious son, brother, Brent, a part of us died with Brent on that dark Friday morning, our hearts will forever bleed. The memory will never fade and we will carry Brent with us everywhere we go. On March 17th, 2006 (his Mom’s birthday) Brent was killed by an impaired driver in Calgary. Brent was 21. Brent’s death has put us into a spiral of grief that countless other victims’ families can relate to. It is a loss no one can heal and gratefully, a love no one can steal. For all the families suffering the loss of someone you love, you don’t get over it; you just get through it. You don’t get by it, because you can’t get around it. It doesn’t “get better”; it just gets different. Everyday grief puts on a new face. We pray in time the pain gets softer, we learn to be gentle with ourselves and take one day at a time. In time we become good actors and smile for the great memories we have and cry when the lights go out at night for what we cannot change. We believe that we will one day meet again and always keep the faith! The Neville family has created a registered charity for Brent to keep his memory alive and to make sure his short life is not in vain. Every Families worst fear is the community forgets your loved one. To honour Brent - Nev Foundation has a “NEV SUITE” at the Ronald McDonald House Central Alberta, Brent’s charity supports MADD Canada programs and Educational Scholarships. Mom, Dad, Shelley, Ryan, extended family and friends.
