Jan 30, 2012 - PRELIMINARY HEARING SET FOR MAN CHARGED IN CRASH THAT KILLED 4 GRANDE PRAIRIE TEENS (Grande Prairie Warriors case)

A date has been set for the preliminary hearing in the impaired driving causing death case that killed four Grande Prairie teens in October.

Brendan Holubowich was not present during a brief court proceeding Monday, but a preliminary hearing was set for August 27-31, 2012.

Vince Stover, Matt Deller, Tanner Hildebrand and Walter Borden-Wilkins died when the vehicle they were in was hit by a pickup truck. Zach Judd, another teen in the vehicle, was seriously injured.

Some family members of the victims were in court Monday. They came dressed in sweatshirts with the logo of the boys’ High School football team to honour the teens.

The father of Borden-Wilkins told Global News the families are getting a lot of support from the community, but attending the preliminary hearing in August will be difficult because it falls on Walter’s birthday.

Holubowich is facing 16 charges in the case. His lawyer says he is doing alright given the circumstances. He’s been shown a lot of anger from the community, but his lawyer says he’s been shown plenty of sympathy too.
