A Lacombe woman has been charged in connection with the death of a Red Deer man in a fatal collision.

April Gail Beauclair, 29, is charged with impaired driving causing death, two counts of impaired operation causing bodily hard, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while over .08 causing bodily harm, and operating a motor vehicle while over .08.

A court date is yet to be set in Red Deer.

Beauclair is in police custody after the vehicle she was driving was involved in a collision that the claimed the life of a 19-year-old Red Deer man.

According to Blackfalds RCMP, on March 31 around 3:33 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Hwy 11A about eight km west of the QEII.

The male was deceased at the scene. Another 17-year-old Red Deer male was taken by STARS to Edmonton with serious injuries and remains in hospital in serious condition.

Staff Sgt. Gord Glasgow said initial investigation has revealed that a vehicle was broken down and was being pushed by hand eastbound on Hwy 11A. Both the deceased male and the second male were outside of the disabled vehicle when it was struck by an eastbound Ford Focus driven by the 29-year-old Lacombe woman.

She only received minor injuries.

Blackfalds RCMP was assisted by Sylvan Lake RCMP and Red Deer RCMP. The investigation is ongoing and is being led by the Blackfalds RCMP with help from Red Deer area collision analyst.

No names are being released until the next of kin are notified.
