Apr 14, 2012 - LACOMBE WOMAN INVOLVED IN FATAL COLLISION RELEASED FROM JAIL - (Tyson & Colton case)


A Lacombe woman who is charged in connection with the death of a Red Deer man in a fatal collision was released from custody April 13 with conditions.

April Gail Beauclair, 29, is charged with impaired driving causing death. Colton Michael Keeler, 19, was deceased at the scene. A second count of impaired driving causing death was added April 13 after a second victim Tyson Vanderzwaag, 18, died in Edmonton hospital April 6 from his injuries.

She is also charged with two counts of impaired operation causing bodily hard, two counts of operating a motor vehicle while over .08 causing bodily harm, and operating a motor vehicle while over .08.

According to Blackfalds RCMP, on March 31 around 3:33 a.m. police responded to a two vehicle collision on Hwy 11A about eight km west of the QEII.

Staff Sgt. Gord Glasgow said initial investigation has revealed that a vehicle was broken down and was being pushed by hand eastbound on Hwy 11A. Both of the deceased males were outside of the disabled vehicle when it was struck by an eastbound Ford Focus driven by Beauclair.

She only received minor injuries.

Her next appearance in Red Deer provincial court is on June 8.
