Aug 03, 2017 - MOTHER OF TEEN KILLED BY DRUNK DRIVER CONTINUES FIGHT

Quinn Stevenson, 17, was killed in a car crash Aug. 3, 2013 in Saskatoon.

The mother of a Saskatoon teenager killed by a drunk driver says she is getting stronger as an advocate against impaired driving.

"I think we feel more confident to speak out about it,” Bonny Stevenson said Thursday.

Her son, Quinn Stevenson, was killed in 2013 after an impaired driver ran a red light on College Drive and hit Quinn’s vehicle.

“You definitely see the problem, no matter where you go. You definitely see people having more than a couple drinks and driving. You’re definitely more conscious of it,” Bonny said.

Quinn’s parents say they've received tremendous support from family and friends in the four years since their son’s death.

The two left flowers at the MADD memorial in Winnipeg on Wednesday to mark the fourth anniversary of Quinn’s passing. They were in the Manitoba city to support their nephew, who is playing baseball as part of Team Saskatchewan at the 2017 Canada Summer Games.
