Feb 08, 2010 - CHARGES LAID IN FATAL COLLISION IN RED DEER (Brad & Krista Howe's case)

Red Deer RCMP have laid charges against 22 year old Chad Olsen of of Sedalia, Alberta, after a crash early on Sunday morning killed a husband and wife from Red Deer.

It was approximately 2:00 in the morning when a southbound pickup truck struck the side of an eastbound car at the intersection of Ironstone Drive and 30th Avenue in Red Deer. The 35 year old female driver and the 34 year old male passenger were both pronounced dead on scene. Police have not released the identities of the deceased.

Police have said that alcohol was a factor in the crash.

Olsen has been charged with two counts Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle Causing Death, two counts Impaired Driving Causing Death, two counts Operating a Motor Vehicle with blood alcohol over 0.08 Causing Death.

He remains in custody, and is expected to appear in Red Deer provincial court on February 8th.
