Feb 27, 2013 - ARRAIGNMENT DATE SET IN FATAL STETTLER-AREA CRASH (Koralea Boettger's case)

A young Stettler man has been ordered to stand trial on charges arising from a fatal collision near his hometown just over a year ago.

Koralea Boettger, 17, died when the pickup truck in which she had been travelling went out of control on a gravel road about five km northwest of Stettler and slammed into a stand of trees on Feb. 11, 2012.

Trevor James Dahl, 20, pleaded not guilty in Stettler provincial court to charges of impaired driving causing death, dangerous driving causing death and refusing to provide a sample of his breath to police investigating a fatal collision.

Dahl was ordered to stand trial at the conclusion of a preliminary hearing held in Stettler this week.

After a two-day preliminary hearing, a judge found there is enough evidence to proceed to a trial. The evidence presented at the hearing cannot be reported because of a publication ban.

A trial date is expected to be set on May 6, 2013.
