Nov 15, 2010 - CHARGES LAID IN TEEN'S DEATH (Jeremie LeBlanc case)

A second man was recently charged late last week after a fatal motor vehicle collision killed 16-year-old Sherwood Park resident Jeremy LeBlanc in April.

LeBlanc died hours after the Oldsmobile he was driving was struck by a Mercedes Benz and Lexus in Edmonton the night of April 23.

It is believed by the Edmonton Police Service that the drivers of the Mercedes and Lexus were street racing near the intersection of 66 Street and 31 Avenue when LeBlanc's Oldsmobile made a left hand turn in front of them.

The Oldsmobile was struck by both vehicles.

Rena Noi Onevathana, 31, from Edmonton, has been charged with failing to remain at the scene of an accident, causing death.

He has also been charged with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, causing death; and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle by street racing, causing death.

Jayant Soni, 31, also of Edmonton, was charged earlier last week with dangerous operation of a motor vehicle, causing death; dangerous operation of a motor vehicle by street racing, causing death; and refusal to provide a breath sample, causing death.
